How does a pellet stove work?

An auger feeds pellets from the hopper into a burn pot, where an igniter lights them. A combustion fan supplies air and a convection fan pushes warm air into the room. A thermostat adjusts the feed rate to hold your set temperature.

How long does a bag of pellets last?

A 40 lb bag typically lasts 12–24 hours depending on the heat setting and the stove. Each product page lists the hopper capacity from the manufacturer.

Does a pellet stove need electricity?

Yes. Pellet stoves use power for the auger, fans and igniter. A battery backup keeps a stove running safely during short outages.

What size stove do I need?

As a rough guide, a home in a cold climate needs about 30–40 BTU per square foot. Compare that with the heating area and BTU rating published by the manufacturer, and allow for insulation and ceiling height.

Who installs the stove?

We sell and ship the equipment. Installation should follow the manufacturer’s instructions and local building codes; we recommend a certified installer, and some areas require a permit.

Do I need a chimney?

Wood stoves need a properly sized chimney or class A flue. Most pellet stoves vent through a wall with pellet pipe. Electric fireplaces need no venting.

Where do you ship?

We ship free to the contiguous 48 United States. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories or outside the US.

How are stoves delivered?

Large stoves ship by freight truck, curbside. The carrier contacts you to schedule delivery. Orders leave within 1–3 business days after payment and arrive in 6–10 business days.

What is your return policy?

You can return unused items in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping is free; a 10% restocking fee applies unless the item arrived damaged or defective.
